In the past few months, I’ve been using cannabis more than I have in the last five years. For those who know me, I usually opt out when a joint is passed around. However, things are changing because I’ve come across a way for me to predict how I will react and am so jazzed I want everyone to hear about it.
You might have noticed colored dots on the Flower Wall during your last visit to Flore, or if you haven’t been by recently, this might be a good reason to stop in. The dots and the science behind it are called “Discover Your Color” (DYC), a terpene and cannabinoid profiling system that organizes cannabis strains based on their dominant terpenes and cannabinoids. Most of the cannabis on the Flower Wall has been profiled and the profiles compared against a database of over 20,000 individuals who have provided feedback on their experiences with specific strains.
The central question asked was: “What effects did you experience?” While I’m simplifying the process, the core idea is that this system, leveraging sophisticated algorithms and things like ChatGPT, generates personalized predictions regarding the effects of different cannabis strains.
My outcome is nothing short of amazing. I went from risking a headache from a smoke to knowing what worked for me. The scientists are learning that there are clear and consistent patterns that link specific effects to strains with similar terpene and cannabinoid profiles. This is huge and gets us closer to predicting the outcomes of cannabis consumption.
If you’re interested in exploring the benefits of cannabis or have been away from it for a while, I encourage you to visit. Check out the DYC system and see if it is a good fit for you. It has changed everything about my cannabis consumption and made it positive again and I can’t think of anything better to share.
